Fantastic. Just fantastic. A badly needed light shown on a little known aspect of the Indian Wars.

Thank you for putting on this detailed and well researched series. I am enjoying it. I have been to the stronghold, but declined to go into the caves (fortunately I never had to go into them in Vietnam as well - some interesting parallels to my experience there).

your channel will blow up in time, i've seen it happen quite a few times and your detailed content, engaging story telling, charisma and humor will get you recognition in the future; speaking of which, part 3 when?

Thanks for another finely-researched - and told episode in U.S. History. Another example of the crucial importance of communications. Also the childishness of trusting the U.S. Gov't.

In the background he has 2 very nice Modoc electric guitars, taken from the Lava beds. Very unique antiques.

I have to say this really is a whole lot of bloodshed with little talk about it. I remember watching the Alan Ladd film Drum Beat that was a fictionalized version of the Modoc war. It is insane to me how truly a bloody affair this war was. Hope to see more of this series soon!!

Great video, thank you. You have me riveted over here, you have a very engaging style appreciate your work. I have just recently started reading about this era finding your channel has helped a lot. All the best, looking forward to next installment. Somehow I don't think it will end well for the Modoc.

Great story ! wow living on the frontier was tough, such a tragedy with the mistaken identity, lot of shooting and a lot of tears.
story has some parallel's with the Maori wars down here in New Zealand.

Wow you even went on scene, fantastic dedication! What a bloody shameful history America has committed against her original citizens.

Hope you don't mind a recommend, but one of the best damn books I've read was Cult of Glory: The Bold and Brutal History of the Texas Rangers by Doug J. Swanson. It is packed with details, and completely merciless in detailing how the rangers really were. Would love to see you covering that.

I bet things would have worked out much better for everyone if they would have left the Modoc people alone.

I notice a thing about these battles: they are very "small" battles. Expect for Little BigHorn and Fettermen's Fight. I thought hundreds were join the Modoc like in the first two battles mention. How big are these tribes and why didn't the U.S army or Calvary sent a large force to get rid of them?
