Man you can tell how moved Matthew is. He is literally shaking, and he has a lump in his throat. Whenever I watch the finale, I also get choked up.

So its nice to see the actor also care that much about the show, and be that passionate about what he put on the screen.

So many people didn’t understand the ending to this show. I don’t know why, it’s pretty straight forward. And it ended perfectly. Start to finish, a once in a lifetime brilliant show.

Much respect to Matthew for this. Was touching to see how moved he was, presumably having just watched the finale. Good to see it meant that much to him; you could see he poured his heart and soul into that character. I'll always wish his arc had turned out differently, especially with the relationship between him and Kate, but still a beautiful and deeply heartfelt performance, a testament to his spirit, and the human spirit, preserved now for as long as humanity has the capacity to preserve art and media like Lost.

As a writer myself, often you don’t realize what you are attempting to convey as you are focused on the continuity and cohesiveness of a theme and story. Just like Spielberg wasn’t aware he was writing about his parents when he wrote some of the central themes in Close Encounter of the Third Kind, until someone else pointed it out to him.

I do believe that they were all dead at the beginning but could not move on until they forgave - not others but themselves for anger, resentment and bitter hearts. This concept is the catalyst of all development, ascension and transformation from one dimension to another. The entire show was about discovering their deepest pain, and each challenge brought them to a place of forgiveness and self transformation. And then they left. It was nice to see that they all do have other-selves somewhere else living happier than the versions we observed did.
