Are you Team Mi 10 Pro Global? Mi 10 Pro China? Or Team other Phone?!

After the price announcement now I'm looking at the Oneplus 8. Hopefully Oneplus doesn't screw up with the price like Xiaomi.

If I was to buy this phone, I'd go for the China version, wait the allotted time to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP then Magisk and then flash Xiaomi EU ROM. Doing this, you would end up with an even better version than the Global ROM. Xiaomi EU ROM is debloated, optimized and you'd have all the language support needed

Actually i was a bit disappointed with the pricing strategy that they did towards their flagship ina global version. Hopefully Xiaomi will reconsider

really disappointed with the price of global rom.. the price is equal with the iphone X at the launch event

They shouldn't place mi 10 pro for 999€. It doesn't have IP rating, qhd screen, usbe 3.0. It just doesn't cut it at 999€

2 things.
Thats way too much money in Europe considering Xiaomi software and camera optimization have a long way to go (they are getting better every year).
Flashing the global rom does NOT give you the missing 4G/LTE frequencies that is optimal for use in several European countries..

Hey Frankie, something to consider. Those of us in the USA have to be mindful for the lte band support. The global version is actually missing band 4g- 12 / 17 & 5g n41 that the China rom has.

Buying a global rom version would leave me with a phone that doesn't have a primary 4g band and no 5g support.

Two other important problems with chinese versions (I had these with my mi8) there is no in app purchase (was a problem for my drone app, I could not get some extra features) and you can not use your phone to pay. The other problem with flashing your phone would be that you can not lock your bootloader and secured applications will not work for example bank applications. I also heard you could not stream more than 480P netflix videos with the unlocked bootloader.

NOTE: For potential cheap xiaomi phone buyers

A xiaomi phone with china rom may cost slightly cheaper than the global version, do note that some apps may not work properly or have notification delays due to the lack of Google services integrated within the rom. You'll have to unlock the bootloader and flash the global rom, unlike oneplus which is more user friendly without bl unlock. In addition, after flashing the rom, some apps may still not work properly as it requires your system to pass safetynet because it detects that your bootloader is unlocked. You'll then have to root your device and flash magisk in order to pass safetynet.

If you've being following the rooting scene for a while, it was noted by magisk dev john wu that Google may patch safety net in the near future which might permanently break the functionality of hiding your bootloader. Basically, passing safety net is a cat and mouse game with Google and you'll constantly need to update to the latest version of magisk.

If you like xiaomi phones and don't want to give yourself a hard time, do yourself a favor by just buying the global rom version instead as it works right out of the box although it may cost more. Saving a couple of hundred bucks isn't worth it imo when you have to go through the tedious process of tweaking the china rom ver to work internationally. I learned this the hard way a year ago.

Frank, is the global version identical to the chinese version ?
Or there's difference in the specs and hardware...

I accidentally bought the Chinese version of the Mi Max 3 with a buggy beta ROM on it, so I had to flash the China ROM onto it, set it to English and side-load Google services onto the phone along with a Roman keyboard.

I am suprised about how stable the China ROM has been and how fast I got new updates. I never encountered a single bug in the two years that I've had the phone.

My brother has the global version and we found out something interesting. Video quality on the Chinese ROM is way better than on the global version!

If there are going to be 300 Euro price differences between Chinese and global versions of Xiaomi phones, then I don't mind using the Chinese versions. You can simply set the language to English, uninstall any Chinese bloat, side-load Google services and install a Roman keyboard.

Europe has different regulations for taxes and software etc. that's why if you've realised, xiaomi now has EU -Global versions of the ROMs. so the Hong Kong version would be pure Global while Europe version would have EU tuned Global.

Xiaomi should've just dropped it at $800 max for the base variant.

Xiaomi should had increased the price slowly, has OP has been done in the last years. Not considering it anymore at this price.

Hay Frankie 🙂. Usually the difference between global and Chinese rom is about 100 dollars. 1100 dollars is insane! Xiaomi is stretching it...
