I'd argue that both GPU and CPU are equally important for gaming. But you have to pick a proper CPU. Many games get CPU limited, especially at the 1440 and 4k range.

the cpu is much more important for some games, arguably the most important part in any pc especially if it's also a work station.

Dell optiplex 7050 100-200$

Rx6400 / wx4100 GPU 50-100$

And make sure the pc has at least 16gb ram. It has 4 ram slots and a maximum of 64gb, and all of that for 250-350$ and it'll do pretty decent for what it is.

I got one of those STGAuburn PC from Amazon. Actually nearly the exact same.

Im new to this and any information helps. I got a gaming PC for 2 reasons. 1) to see what its like in the GPC world and 2) Accprding to my research its perfect for coding, multi tasking, video editing, ect
