In my opinion, Buu's Candy Beam is a perfect example of the contrast between him and Cell. Whereas Cell devoured his victims in a manner than was both painful and gruesome by absorbing them with his tail, Buu would simply turn them into sweets. But the creepy thing is that his victims are still alive. This is implied when Piccolo and Krillin remained stone even after Dabura was turned into a cookie, and later pretty much confirmed when he turned Vegito into a jawbreaker.
