My theory about Midas is that there are two of them. Before you call me crazy let me explain. When ascendant Midas appeared as an npc the wording for his description was strange “Ever since his fall from grace, Midas has been biding his time in The Underworld. But he is not the type you can keep prisoner for long, and a *new Midas is ready to rise* ...” The fact it says a new Midas is ready to rise could be saying something. Further proof of this is what Spirit Hunter Saeco says about him “ *This Midas* will return to a half life... but a life nonetheless.” Again she says this Midas like there is another. Remember we will eventually return to chapter 2 and when you think about it makes sense because Midas’ past self will be present in chapter 2 which means the present and the past version will co exist. I believe present Midas will warn his past self of the device’s failure and in turn could further alter the timeline or the device could present us to the open world game mode since the device’s purpose was to escape the loop.
