I used to work as a warehouse manager for a company that recycles cell phones. All of the phones are taken apart and the material sorted out into lcds, circuit boards, plastic, batteries, etc. and sent to China to rebuild new phones. You would need a ton of cell phones to get enough gold to actually make some money. Those throw away phones that WalMart sells are actually recycled phones. They aren’t new. They may look new and come in a pretty package but they are not. They are recycled. China is making a fortune from old cell phone material. It’s an interesting process for sure.
