Coming Out Day Announcement / GSA Ad (2021)

Completed 10/6/21.
This was the fourth video I made for my 10th Grade Broadcast class, and making this video was a pretty bold move of me if I can be honest. By the time I began work on this news package, I already garnered a bit of reputation as "the news guy", so I wanted to pull a little social experiment and see if anything would change if I came out to my entire school. And thankfully, at least from my perspective, Nothing bad happened! At worst the reaction was neutral, and at best people came up to me to congratulate me and the such!
Some people were confused about what the flag meant, but I stand on my decision to never actually specify in the video. If you took the time to research, then that's already an act of allyship! Look at you!
My hope with creating this news package was that someone who isn't out yet would be able to see me publicly proclaim myself as not-straight and think "oh, well if they can do this and not get beat up in the hallways for it, then maybe I'm safe as well!"
And I think it's worked out. For now, at least.
