Jlouvier Presents A Wooden Railway Review BRIO Edition. This is a review series where we will take a look at all the Brio Thomas Wooden Railway Toy Trains, and compare them to their Mattel Fisher Price Counterparts. The Brio Thomas & Friends wooden railway system was only around for a few years back in the mid to late 90's, and saw some amazing success in the UK. Unfortunately these amazing trains hardly ever made their way over to the United States, and many have never truly seen the quality and workmanship that BRIO put into this!

Brio is the superior brand in my opinion, growing up I didn't recieve many Wooden Railway models. From the top of my head I remember having Thomas and the Motorised Jet Engine, Emily, 60th Anniversary Henry and Thomas Winter Wonderland set. I enjoyed all of these models, Winter Wonderland being my favourite and still is. One day, I can't remember how, but I was given a bunch of Wooden Trains. In that bunch was a Brio Thomas, Gordon, Henry, James (without his tender), Annie and Clarabel and even the Motorised Thomas. I remember loving these as they were main characters and they were very nice models. I really like the detailing, most of the engines having the correct wheel configurations and also the faces were accurate to the TV Series and captured the characters perfectly.

Hmmm. Gotta go with Mattel. Brio did get the face right but all of the details on Mattels Percy wins it. Great video!

Thank you for reviewing the BRIO Thomas engines! This series is interesting to me since I have so many BRIO Thomas models and they're not really well known. This is awesome! As for most BRIO models, I prefer them to the TWR any day like Percy, but not all (the old style LC Thomas outright beats the fat Brio Thomas)

To be honest, BRIO isn't the worst Thomas brand, but that line of product isn't the best in my opinion. The front magnet is what kills it for me. It just looks weak.

This is probably coming from my bias for the Learning Curve models, but besides for the face, I personally prefer the Learning Curve model. I'm not a really big fan of how bulky the BRIO model is, lol.
