TorqueSim SR22 Part 3 - KGCN ILS Approach and Landing [X-Plane]

Показать описание
Part three of the video series looking at the TorqueSim SR22 in X-Plane 11. The approach chart is reviewed and compared with the aircraft navigation database, then the radio aids are set for the approach. The descent and landing is then carried out on runway 03 at Grand Canyon.

Route: KSNA 20R - ANAHEIM1.HEC V210 AMERE - KGCN ILS 03

Errors, Omissions, Clarifications:-

I was fairly lazy on the landing, the nose should have been a little bit higher than demonstrated here (hey! - it was very late local time!)

I called the plan view on the chart the “profile” view. Profile is the side view. (I’ve been on furlough for a while now!)

Lean of Peak during descent is possible, but due to the rapid falloff of power beyond the optimal lean setting rich operation where there is a nice wide power band is easier to manage. Remember when descending more air, same fuel has the same effect as same air, less fuel.

Video 3 -
- Approach Chart
- Navigation Database
- DME Hold
- Musical Interlude
- Rich of peak for descent
- ILS approach
- Landing and shutdown

The fine print:

It shouldn't need to be said, but please remember these videos are for recreational simulation and entertainment purposes, not real world flight instruction.

Unlike most videos on the channel, I have been given free access to the SR22 by TorqueSim. My videos are not intended to be an outright promotion of the product, but rather as informative tutorials with the model.

I didn't think your tutorials could get any better. Combination of ILS approach, G1000 usage, SR22 aviating and really pleasant narrative style is really really good.

Omg you just blew my mind! Even real world pilots can learn from you... Didn't know about the dme arc designation and the keypad setup. I'm so sharing this with more people!

Thank you very much for this excellent tutorial video. Not how to switch the knob two on etc., but a lot useful practical hints and tipps.

Love it! How do you make the inner circle appear in the HSI and what’s its function? Is it available in VOR mode as well or only on GPS. I would love a tutorial on VOR and NDB aproaches. Nice video!

perfect landing, what I dont get is the stall warning is audible before landing irl, at 6 degrees and 63knots. Both xplane and msfs aren't audible.

This was an excellent series, thanks. For those of us that are teaching ourselves, any chance you could do a similar one for the Cessna 172. I know its simple, but for those starting out it would be great to cover all the details..

So is it that when the coded procedure does not match the chart pilots are expected to manually change the procedure in the FMS to follow the chart?

Fantastic video Graham, good to see you back on Youtube after the long gap between videos. Hopefully you have been back at work in the real world..
Have you tried MSFS 2020 yet, if so tell us what you thought of it.
I have been using MSFS 2020, and been enjoying it very much indeed.
That said, this week I got an Oculus Rift S VR headset and have been using that in X Plane, what a game changer to the sim experience that has been.
Good enough to fool a real world pilot, very immersive, depth perception, scale, just amazing, blew my mind.
Anyways, good too see your content again, take care and all the best to you and yours over the festive season.
