Nico van der Walt, discusses the Weba drawing office and his involvement with Weba. The Weba drawing office is well established and set up to integrate the necessary departments cohesively, to assist in providing the client with the best results.
On the technical side, we use the latest software namely Cimatron and Solidworks for the modelling and the creation of all the drawings, and Sigmanest to provide the workshop with economised cutting schedules. We have 20 draughts persons who are trained to various levels of efficiency, to cover all spheres of the work requirement. The process start from site measuring, in order to provide the design team the correct information for the design, once that is achieved, the economised cutting schedules for the workshop are prepared, and the manufacturing drawings supplied from which the equipment is built. Finally, before the delivery of the manufactured equipment an installation package is prepared which consist, amongst others, a set of the installation drawings, and the spare parts ordering schedules. We have our own administrative personnel in the drawing office to assist with general administrative supportive duties, monitoring and reporting and management and procurement of specific job-related requirements. All drawings are checked, and efficiencies are monitored to compare and improve the continuous progress in the drawing office. Evaluations on each draughtsperson are implemented quarterly to not only monitor the individual progress but also to establish opportunities for improvement, both for the company and to the individual.
