They are both introverts, yes, but not necessarily they are same type... I can totally relate on Kiara, which I claim I'm also a type 3, but other findings say that I am kinda between 2 and 4...

Just because you are a shut in doesn't mean you are an introvert. There are plenty of outgoing introverts that you don't hear because they just have quiet conversation with their friend and play sport without shouting.

Similarly, just because you are shy and socially awkward doesn't mean you can't speak up and be productive, functioning person. That's not something you are just born with, it's a skill. You can't get over awkwardness because you are sheltered in a way that allows you to be awkward and run away from conversation because you are fed, your parents are rich etc... Go to a school in a poor neighbourhood, or dead end/entry level job. There are plenty of awkward people who can communicate and dare to speak fluently when they need to. The introvert/social awkward nonsenses are all excuses.
The message in NHK e Youkoso isn't chiefly a cry for help. It's mostly an admission of guilt and regret.
