first of all, the "before her" pictures were from when he was a young kid, explaining why he was all energetic and happy.
second of all, Finn in the "during her" part, was serious, because that's how some people are. You can't expect someone to always be smiling. That's just how Finn is, he's serious most of the time, which is not a bad thing.
