How to Live Longer According to Dr. Peter Attia

Earlier this year, Dr. Peter Attia released his book, Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity. If you are interested in the topic of longevity, this is THE book to read.

Dr. Peter Attia's approach to living longer is very well thought out, and takes a lot of the "fluff" out of the concept of longevity.

This video breaks down Dr. Attia's approach to longevity.

Hey Andrew, I’m so happy I found your channel. I feel as drawn to your content as I was when I found The Huberman Lab podcast at the beginning of 2021. I have no doubt that you will follow his trajectory of success with the clear and concise way you disseminate information. Thank you.

Keep up the consistency - you will go far. Production quality is great.

Not a huge fan of those zoomed in side angle shots - think it might be the crop on some of them. The crop shot at 3:30 I really disliked but 5 seconds later it was the same angle uncropped and looked decent. Also, maybe edit your display picture some colour for the background - maybe an off white if you want to keep it clean. It looks odd on my YouTube.

Again some great stuff. 4k in 2 months is a great result. Excited to see your video for day 75 of your 75 hard.

You might as well take the diet and health advice of Richard Arvin Overton who lived to age 112 as Peter Attia has no long term track record in anything. Last time I was in my local library there was a book called younger next year by Dr. Henry S. Lodge, I am not sure if he is still around but he was also a real expert in diet, health and longevity, with a specialty in Geriatrics.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

00:13 📚 Dr. Peter Attia emphasizes the importance of defining clear objectives in your approach to longevity.
01:26 🎯 Your "marginal decade" is the last 10 years of your life, and defining objectives for this period is crucial for a fulfilling longevity strategy.
03:19 🩺 To achieve longevity, understand and reduce your risk of the "Four Horsemen" of chronic diseases: metabolic syndrome, heart disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative disease.
04:42 🏋️‍♀️ Dr. Attia's three-fold approach involves five tactical domains: exercise, diet, sleep, exogenous molecules, and emotional health.
07:41 🧠 Emotional health is a crucial component of longevity, and it's essential to prioritize it in your longevity plan.

I think that I've found my doppler ganger. I literally have no need to make a channel, you have made videos on everything I would have. Been sick to do a community challenge.

I hope you report your pre- and post-ApoB levels after 75Hard. Or at least whatever data you have of your results and where you plan to go next with your training and nutrition.

Did he mentioned some kind of assessment to get a status-quo of the risk profile ?

That one true diet is called Mediterranean diet.... It has the most evidence...
I'm vegan for ethical reasons (for animals) ....but if I weren't i would've been eating some fish..
But Im scared of heavy metals like Mercury...so I'm not that sad

2:28 ??? What is this chess position ? This kind of position never happens in a chess game : the king is right in the middle of the board ! Nice video btw

Peter Attia recommends a high protein diet. He recommends that with no evidence but says it's because we need to retain our muscle mass in old age. That sounds believeable.
He however completely ignores all the research on all kinds of different living things (animals and yeast even), as well as all the population studies, that show that a low protein diet is best for living longer.
Because of this I don't trust his advice. It feels more like he has some generic ideas about health that he is packaging as longevity advice. I would rather listen to someone like David Sinclair who is actively doing research in this area. He has a good book on this called Lifespan.
