Raleigh Christmas parade canceled after deadly crash

The Raleigh Christmas Parade was canceled on Saturday morning after a tragic turn of events led to a girl's death, according to a report from WRAL.

Around 10:25 a.m., the parade was paused as police and medical personnel responded to the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Boylan Avenue.

An out-of-control pickup truck hit a girl performing with CC & Company Dance Complex, a group that has performed in the parade in the past.

The girl was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries. The girl's name was not released.

First off…..WHY WAS THIS TRUCK ALLOWED ON THE ROAD? His tires grossly EXCEEDED the body frame, HAD NO FENDSR FLARES BY LAW, so he should NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED on the roadway. Oversized tires, and pulling a float, stressed the brake system. Blame the cops for allowing this truck also to be on the road….and not doing anything before this tragedy!

To anyone wondering (I was 10-20 feet away from it) The truck came down the first part of the parade route laying on the horn and screaming the breaks aren't working. He swerved to the side to avoid hitting the float but un fortunately hit the girl. His name is Landon Glass (The driver) he is 20 years old. Why a 20 year old was driving with that many people I don't know. I suspect the brakes stopped working because of the after-market stuff on the truck. Edit: People were getting mad I said 20 was to young. Let me clarify, In MY OPINION a 20 years old is a bit young to be driving a huge truck with a giant float in a crowd of 80K people. The driver should know how to resolve an issue that may arise while on the parade route. Let me add, I just found this out today but he has 4 tickets for failure to get vehicle inspected. Along with that the girls name was released
