Ian was a member of the band Pilot who had a few hits over here, (UK), with January being probably the most well known. Sadly passed away last year.

Hi Kelly, thanks for posting from the late great Ian Bairnson who is very underrated. His work with The Allan Parsons Project is magical! How about having a go at his solo from The Same Old Sun, very melodic! Thanks again, Stephen from Scotland

The late Mr Ian Bairnson deserves a bit more attention. In my opinion he equals Gilmore as a guitar player. He was solid member of the Alan Parsons Project and, however his name is not well known by outsiders, his sounds are everywhere! For example this piece. RIP Ian Bairnson
