Soft edges and less contrast made the ball/Death Star fade into the background. Great vid, Daniel! I'm saving this to refer back to when I begin landscape painting!

This is eye-opening! No wonder my landscape paintings before were flat and no depth. Soo helpful! 💕

The techniques you discussed here are so helpful! It's amazing what a difference each one makes on its own. I love how these videos give viewers the confidence to believe that creating beautiful art is possible, even for beginners. The program makes it seem so accessible. Daniel, your feedback is helpful because it's specific (and gentle), and your enthusiasm is contagious!

This is awesome! It's incredible what depth (through color, value, and edge) can do for our paintings! Great video, Daniel!

You should take a trip to the mountains at least once to get an appreciation for a clear atmosphere. When we got to the 70% of the apex from the sea-level and looked back, we saw an absolutely open landscape. We could see the last 60% of our month-long walking journey. Since it was the highest mountain ridge, you could see plains over the smaller ridges. And the weather was so clear, that there was practically NO fog for ~100km ahead. We had a clear view over the little villages, rivers, lakes, lonely outposts. We even saw how frontiers of clouds sliced and carved the ground into regions of shadow and sunlight. And it was CLEAR. We weren't thinking "God, if only there was fog to create a focal point for a photo." No, we all thought: "God damn! Why didn't we bring a telescope? We want to look into every single nook and cranny of this vastness for hours!" And I think Anthony's and Deepak's paintings captured that feeling very well. You can even feel the gusts of fresh morning air and hot sun on your back, just by looking at their landscapes.
But the moment you added mist, those feelings of vastness, clarity and warmth got replaced by the senses of coldness and confusion.
