The Allay Is Here, But Is It Good?!

In this DanTDM Minecraft video, I find and use the brand new Minecraft Allay Mob that was voted for in Minecraft Live 2021

This really fits with my theory that the allay is an anti-vex of sorts. In case you didn't know, the word "vex" or "vexing" means to annoy(fitting name) but "allay" means to soothe annoyance, to soothe a vex. They're probably to peaceful to harm vexes but they might frighten them or weaken them or something similar.

Now that they're in the bedrock beta, we see that they only spawn in pillager outposts, and in high frequency within the woodland mansions, the only other mob ever locked by illagers are iron golems which we definitely know are a threat/enemy to the illagers. I just know there's serious lore implications with this mob. If anyone has other ideas feel free to share!

I love the idea that they spawn in cages outside of outposts. I wondered where and how they implement them into them game, and this is really smart!

Man to grow up with DanTDM was such a pleasure. I remember watching his videos as a kid and to know that he's still making videos and keeping them at the same quality as they used to be really warms my heart.

The way he structured his video with cutting between the game and irl is really sweet and creative. You can tell the changes he's making in the videomaking process, and even though I love the old DanTDM, this one's awesome!!!!

Finally, no one can say woodland mansions are useless! I just absolutely love this structure and they are been more useful now! It's a brilliant idea to make allays spawn at pillager outposts and woodland mansions, this will inspire players to explore, even more! Very nice way to implement them into the game!

I have a few questions (not for Dan specifically, but he can answer them, too)

- Can you put them on a lead?
- Can you use a tame tag on them?
- Will they be able to make sounds and voices in the future?

(Okay, that last one was mostly targeted towards Mojang, but I'm still curious because I don't want the Allays to be completely silent...)

I think that the allay will be very useful in farms because they can bring items to a redstone activated noteblock, which would have hoppers around it and on top of it. This might eliminate the need to have a giant, straight line of hoppers to transport items to different locations, but will make it more necessary to have a 5x5 square of hoppers. Either way, I think it will lower the amount of iron needed to build most farms.

I hope when we finally get the allay officially in the game, it makes a sound when it’s near the block it’s looking for since it could be quite helpful for finding ores

Maybe the Pillagers got jealous that the MC Players got a Friendly version of the Vex and Prison Cells being creepy in the Woodland Mansion having them as well and Allay is a very useful mob

I see a very special use for the allay: sugar cane farms. Just give an allay a sugarcane, set up a sugarcane farm and some sort of red stone contraption to constantly break the top of the sugarcane as soon as it grows to two blocks high, set up a dropper and note block area, and then let them bring you near infinite sugarcane
