Ford TW25 Front Hub Disassembly

Finally found a parts axle. Dealer is a terrible source. Other US aftermarket options aren't as bad, but its all sold by the gear. European suppliers offer the gears as a set for half the cost of buying them in the states, but shipping is a challenge right now. So what have we learned??? stick with two wheel drive. Less stuff to break. If anyone ever works on this axle besides us, they'll wonder what happened that it has two different front spindles.

Never trust a hydraulic jack to support anything you are working on. America needs you Jacob, stay Safe! This TW Ford tractor will always be worth fixing, You made a wise decision on the purchase and the way you decided to fix it.

Probably wouldn't hurt to go threw the right side one also just to make sure everything is in good shape!

it's good to see you haven't given up on the TW. Make it work, that's what farmers do!!!

It will be good to see that tractor back in action - it's really nice. Now that you mention the larger axle design on later years, I can understand way max weight + full pull might have been an over-work.

Yes! The Boehm T-Dub will live again! They're my favorite after IH's.

What amazes me is that sometimes there are less parts on the shelf for much newer tractors than there are for yours.

Nice to see the Tw back again, depending what you are doing don't count the fuel weight as front ballast it decreases as you run the tractor during the day so lightening the front end more. I remember a Deere mechanic talking about them when they first came out with the front assist and front tanks and what happened after a day plowing, guys started buying front weight kits they thought they wouldn't need !
That hub failure could of just been poor maintenance or just heavy wear over time. I went out to a Landini that had leaked the oil right out after he'd been told to keep it topped up. I had my suspicions the guy ran it right out of oil when he said it locked up, but I asked for an oil catch pan to humor him. yeah when the end cap came off all the bits went clunk when they fell out. About 8 years ago that was $5000 in new parts. $15 of gear oil topping it up because he didn't want to fix 2 seals and spend $500 on parts and time was cheap after that episode L.O.L ! Take care

Nice seeing big blue getting ready for some action. You'll find an later axle for it when your not looking 😏😉. Just run it in 2wd more she will manage just fine and keep the weights on it can become rather bouncy on the road without them. 🙄. Great work on another entertaining, factual, drama video👍 Stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

That's a fine looking tractor. It will be nice to see it working again.

It would be prudent to use some sort of auxiliary support for the axle.

Being that i am probably at least 25 yrs older than you.I started farming in the 80's with what was then cast off " Fence row tractors" Before the "restoration craze " JD A's, B's, 50's, 60's . Ford 800's, 801's. They were all 40+ Years old at the time and parts were in stock and no problem. Things got fancier, bigger, margins smaller and smaller. I think it was better then.

Your story finding that axle is about how it goes at salvage yards for me. Lol. We always find something they never thought had. (but when its time to pay its thier most prized possession)

I wouldn’t worry about the front weights being an issue. Pretty sure they all came with that stack underneath Looks more like a little bit of wear play somewhere caused the gears to eat each other. (But I’m not there lookin at it) but I do have a TW15, 7710, 6610 and lookin forward to that beast in the field!

Initially "FWA" or front wheel assist was just for exactly that but people got to relying on the front axle a little too much and the earlier small front ends wouldn't take it. Removing those front weights will help the stress levels a great deal. If it were mine I would only use it when I really need it. Match your implements and work load as if it were a rear wheel drive only. Might save you more grief later on...

Deere and A&I do stock a fair amount of parts for ZF just not sure if it was for that one . One reason why i liked the Case Magnums much easier to find parts and rebuild the Spicer front
