Travis Toy Signature Double-T 12 Pedal Steel guitar speaker by Eminence

Eminence recently sat down with Nashville pedal steeler Travis Toy to talk about his new signature guitar speaker, the Double-T 12.

Rated at 300 watts, the 8 ohm Double-T 12 features a tight low end, a midrange bite that can cut through a mix, and detailed high end without being too bright. Travis worked closely with the engineers at Eminence to achieve these characteristics and even managed to pack them all into a 12" speaker that weighs just over 7 lbs – less than half the weight of the speakers he replaced.

In this video, Travis is using his Little Walter Tube Amps model 89 and a Royer R-121 studio mic.

For more information about the Double-T 12, or any of the equipment used in this video, please visit the links below. Thanks for watching.

I have an older Evans amp, Fender Steel King, and an old late seventies Peavey LTD 400. But the older I get and with my health issues, those amps are getting to be too much. I’m thinking of getting that new TT-12 Toneblocker amp. It’s only 1299.00 and the best quality you can buy without spending 3 or 4000.00.

would love to hear that 12" speaker in a SOLID STATE AMP....much different sound I would guess than a TUBE amp....thinking about your Quilter 12" amp and head..

Yeah. What would this do in for regular guitar? Nice clean sound with a tele I’m assuming, but what about for metal or rock?

The mid and high tones are fine but it has no bottom end. This speaker is ok if you have the luxury of lining out through a pro touring sound sys. Yes the weight issue is a big factor. I use a Revelation tube preamp, into a 2000 watt Crown stereo rack unit . My speakers are Black Widow 15 inch shallow basket # 1502-8 . They sound great, full freq response . Never sell me on a thin sounding 12 in spk . These guys are on the road and in the studio all the time they have to be able to get the gear in and out quickly. No time to lug around the good stuff .No extra room on the tour bus for a big system. Been there and did that . Dont buy into the latest new thing, Any quality tube amp will give you warm smooth tone if its set right. Remember TONE is in the hand as well as the gear you use.

Nothing wrong with PEAVEY ! I had 2 session 500s on the road and in the clubs . Always got great compliments from sound techs.in the casinos and big venues. Now its all about the Quilter amps BS. Some guys on the forum are like women in a shoe store. They have more money than sense . TONE is in the touch as well as good gear !
