Remember, the real Shakespeare was full of ale and fun. For example, 'He jests at scars that never felt a wound.' Great line, but it is not a pained, tortured, hysterically dramatic line. It is a partly sardonic, ironic, humorous aside on a friend. Romeo should read that line almost laughing. Shakespeare the tradition is different from the real thing; people take him too seriously, in my opinion anyway. A lot of the original warmth and humour of Shakespeare is lost that way. 'Oh that I were a glove upon that hand...' lol
