For today’s “Five Minutes Histories" episode, we take you back to the War of 1812…in Patterson Park!

This is our series called "Five Minute Histories." Each day, we’ll record a short video about a different historic place in Baltimore and post it on our Facebook page and website. We are honoring Governor Hogan’s request and are doing this from home

Thank you for mentioning Captain Thomas Boyle. I think this is a fabulous "Baltimore" story that is not very well-known around town and little is written about this escapade (that I can find).

I remember playing on the cannons as a kid, as all kids from Highlandtown did, and I remember that one was different than the others but never knew why.

Thank you .
I will read more about the battle at Patterson Park and I've been researching the North Point battle . And my fancy for the cow pens flag or the North Point flag or controversy of said flag

I remember when I was a kid, a story about them. I'm trying to come around the other side, sort of where Curtis Bay is in south Baltimore and that the residents there fired on them as well and drove them back. Is that true?
