I probably couldn’t have made much use of this video at the beginning of my portrait drawing adventure but, now, 18 months later, it explains every single one of the problems I’ve run into. I had so many a-HA! moments out loud the cats started looking at me funny. Amazingly helpful video!

when you're teaching yourself you never know where the next artistic insight is gonna come from, and it often feels like consuming videos yields less and less new information, but TIL I learned about the points of contact of a skull laying on a flat surface and I imagine I'll probably use that a lot to check my proportions. thanks!

Would love to see a video where these main features of the skull get compared between average male and female, even though there are some resources about it out there, I think that this topic gets overlooked a lot of the times. Great video, as always, good job to all the Proko team.

Grant Atlas is my favorite Anatomy illustrated Book, during my medical school . Despite being a medical doctor, your presentation is of immense value to me, let alone non medical, figure and portrait artists and hobbyist . Stan Proko is among the best artists and you have joined the top teaching group . METTA, May you all be, Healthy, Prosperous and PEACEFUL .

I didn't think I need to watch it cause I know most of these. But then I remembered something I always tell myself: "Never underestimate knowledge from others who know more than you!"
Watched it and liked it! It's always nice to have a refresher from the pros and you can always learn something new.

You should point out that they can be slight variations of skull shape between ethnicities....so identifying the shape on the skull on that basis is important too

That last chapter is gonna be SO helpful!!! I think I’m gonna start printing out pics of the human skull/body to put into the first page of my sketchbooks! Just for an easy reference, and trace out those green guidelines!

Extremely informative and helpful!! Personally, I learned the most from the zygomatic arch. What a perfect landmark to know EXACTLY where the eyes line up with the ears! (Whereas other tutorials seem more precise on the placement of the eyeBROWS relevant to the ears)
Thanks for sharing!

Very impressive, I will take this sculpturing course. At some point soon (In commission work) but sculpting is so important for any artist. This is how I got my start as a kid drawing from sculptures, figures alot of vases sculptured animals mostly those lion sculptures, (my mom made me finish those darn drawings too....no cheating lol) always a pleasure to see your videos! Learning from Bridgemans book I saw how he broke down the face into 4 parts
1. Square shape for the top of the head
2. Cylinder tube/can for the nose and mouth
3. Horizontal thin rectangle with round ends for the cheek
4. Flat triangle 3d shape that forms the chin and lower jaw to back of the mandibular joint.

as pretty experienced artist (character illustrator) i found this video very interesting and easy to memorize. But i dont agree it's a must-to-know for every artist, but more like "nice addition if you draw humanoid characters a lot". Those who really should study this deep are portrait artists.
