Such is the case in this sibling rivalry between the Toyota Avanza and the Toyota Veloz, identical in more ways than one but each with their unique twist to them. you buy the veloz for the TSS (toyota safety sense). very good for newbie drivers and as a family MPV, but if you're already a veteran driver and can live without the TSS, better off with the other MPVs.

Just purchased a “V” variant Veloz after a lot of BS from the dealership. Overall, I am happy with the purchase even though it costs a bit more.

For me I will choose the Veloz for the additional safety like pre-collision, lane departure alert and the 360 camera because I’m old and not that good on driving. 😢

A good comparo I think would be Avanza, Xpander, and BRV

These is what all Pinoy Tatays needed, comfi, safe and in-tech family cars which can accomodate even lolos and lolas, just do not expect hight torque and power like those turbo diesels roughly with in these 2 mpvs price range

These cars actually have a higher Power to weight ration than a non TOTL Fortuner.. 106hp @ 1.2 tons vs 148hp @2.2 tons..

Pretty much something to seriously consider if one plans to buy any of the two. Another detailed and in-depth review of AD, perfectly explained all the bits and pieces everyone must know about the subcompact MPV twins. Many people argue about why buy an Xpander or basically any other subcompact MPV when these two are supposedly "better". But apart from the somewhat off NVH, comfort surely is something that Caco refused to talk about much other than saying that both are similar to each other. Kinda noticed how the camera they used kinda does wiggle at times and makes it obvious whenever there's a random jolt that comes into the cabin, probably after hitting a pothole or any of these road imperfections. At the very least, both are well equipped for what they are but this review somehow gave us a clearer picture of the trade-offs we can get for opting for something that's too well-equipped for the price it asks: NVH, comfort and a bit of space.

Yes, definitely a bargain for someone who just wants a no-frills MPV to bring the family or the besties for a trip or a good stroll and surely it'll be a good one for such purpose. But if someone does consider refinement, good interior space and a more sensible package, the XL7 and the Xpander (also the upcoming new Cross for sure) will be the way better choices out there, w/o a doubt.

No intention to harm the brand and model but I saw two brand new Veloz today towed by a truck from two different places in my area and I didn't see any physical damage.

He is absolutely correct. Much better to get an Innova. Even slightly used if you must. Much better than either of these two things

it's like they created 5 segments of the avanza, that when you go for the veloz your going for a more fancier model. As it's almost identical if not completely identical. Question is, is it worth it? As for me the way I see it if I were to get the veloz i would go for the Innova.

Such nice and helpful comparison with excellent sense of humor :D Just subscribed! Thank you very much, Caco! You did help me a lot differentiate the two models. I think I have my final decision now! Veloz is the best!
