To anyone going thru it, i want to share a story.. i suffered from depression all my life, contemplated suicide many times but did not have the courage. 15 years ago i had a son who i could never abandon like that. A few years ago i lost everything i owned, literally was homeless and broke. The depression was killing me slowlybut the love for my son forced me to overcome my situation and keep going. Today i can proudly say i am not really depressed as much and am living a great life. Never give up, every dog has his day even if it may not seem like it. Plus u never know what the next day may bring. God is good.

You never know what the crew is going through personally. That's why I try to be pleasant and try to make their shift enjoyable if I can. Most times we end up laughing and talking. My condolences to his family friends.

My last cruse was with msc. I had a balcony. If jumped from the balcony, the only place you would go is the deck below.

Of course there is always a chance of foul play but as you said, you would have to work hard to fall off of a ship.

Someone needs to be on duty for the sole purpose of watching the surveillance cameras. Just having cameras is not enough.

Thank you for summarizing the reality. Too many cruise bloggers claim the latest singer " fell off the cruise ship". To me that creates an unfair fear. There is intentional, or goofing around climbing balcony to balcony, or foul play. The stupid accident fallers dont waste time searching.

These crew members are away for long periods of time living in tight quarters away from their family and friends. So Sad for all who knew him.

After cruising for decades, I have seen areas on a ship that would allow these things to happen.
I also teach personal security, if someone wants to ‘off’ themselves or someone wants to help them (so to speak) there will always be a way…no matter how much precautions have been made by the company.
