I go over the kayak industry in 2025 and beyond. What can we expect to see from Hobie, Garmin, and Bonafide? I also go over what I would like to see in the fishing kayak innovation that can keep us moving forward. #kayak #kayakfishing #motor #wildlife

Motorizing kayaks is not for everyone, there is still a large contingent of kayak anglers that fish from kayaks because we also like to get some exercise, whether it be paddling or pedalling.

The industry is pricing itself out of business. I have motorized and paddle yaks. I make very good income. But, these yaks have gotten crazy expensive. For an American made rotomolded yak, you need about 2k for a good yak, pfd, paddle, etc. (non tourney rig) The avg person can’t do that. Hence why you see so many Chinese yaks. Once you rig a great yak, you don’t need another yak for years. If the prices keep trending up, I’ll keep my yaks longer.

What do I plan for this winter and next season? To put more fish in the cooler. And will be tying more lures this winter. My buddy has a PA 14 and I have an Outback. We leg it all day, inshore salt water fishing.

I just wish that the manufacturers outside of Native would figure out that 2 little 12 inch gear tracks mounted too far in front of the seat is an acceptable design strategy. Give me gear track from bow to stern and attach it with enough inserts around mid to slightly aft so that I can use an onboard wheel system.

Kayak fishing as we knew it is over. It already peaked.

Forgot to add that winter doesn't mean the kayak gets put away, it means the dry suit gets pulled out.

I'm like 10 years behind. That's why I like the 2025 Native Slayer propel LTE for an option. I don't want a 90lb fishing kayak and still have to spend another $1600 motor/battery to make it move. Let alone a trailer.

Good seeing you produce another video Andy, miss seeing you at the store 👍 i keep my Yupik very minimal and it depends if i go lake or run the river for trout. Keep it simple and enjoy what its about.

The used market is flooded from the Covid fleet...the bass tourney market is seemingly the only section buying new kayaks and I think that's a small part of the equation and also social media perception.. I think more people are getting into the sport every year but they have plenty of used and cheaper kayaks to choose from....a lot of people jumped on the band wagon during Covid and a high percentage of those people didn't stick with it.

I have the Bonafide RVR119 and “may” motorize it because my shoulder is disabled. But I will fight to the end just to paddle it. Not everyone wants a motor. That is what BOATS are for

I bought my XTR to take my dog out but I am a competitive fisherman also so it fits the bill.. I can't pull a bass boat with my Camper so it's the best option for someone like me and I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase. I use a bed extender with my short box f150 and launch from a boat ramp just back down and push it out like it is nothing.

Hobie is always back … they just have focused on motorize kayaks . I have a 2021 pa 14 . It is the best thing that has happened to fishing !!!

I’m curious to see if Lowrance releases a kayak focused motor, or if Minn Kota sees the opening in the market and adapts one of theirs to be kayak ready out of the box. I was on board for the Xi3 until the takeover/discontuation happened. I’m probably going with the NK180, now.

Great vid. Lots of info. I’ll be converting my black pack into a battery box eliminating my current battery box that sits too far stern imo. I’m also building a multiple PVC rod holder that will fit into the two rear rod holder spaces.
I’ll also swap out to Anderson plugs as the Atwood’s are already failing.
Front deck of the Unlimited will remain open and uncluttered except for the Xi3 and landing net.
Less is always more for me.

I understand motorized is were the kayak industry is headed, but I must also say I feel it sad that the biggest changes being talked about in the industry are all centered around who has a motor, what kayaks can take or need a specific motor, and what battery will be used. Trying not to be "old fashioned" but I miss the days when kayaking conversations were about how to manage the human powered kayak and also fish. Appreciate your content. I fish from a Wilderness ATAK 120. What I love the best about the 120 is the removable center pod. I have my Garmin Unit and transducer mounted to it. It makes it a one step process to getting my kayak ready to fish. I would love to upgrade to a pedal kayak but don't want to give up my center pod. I wish Wilderness had more options that fit this area. It would be great if they made the ATAK 120 in a pedal option.

I'll be putting my Bite FD into storage for the winter. Since I prefer a simple/minimal setup there isn't too much I plan on adding to it. I am building a DIY light mast with flag using an old fishing rod and some LED lights. I would also like to get a simple fish finder (probably a Garmin Striker 4) to have basic info (depth, water temps, etc.) displayed.
