I just followed this tutorial step by step with a new shell, buttons, IPS 3.0 screen, and the battery pack. For anyone that is contemplating it, do it and just follow Tito’s guide exactly. Shipping will cost you nearly as much as his coupon code but overall it’s slightly cheaper. Now, I will say that shipping can take forever but overall but for $120, you can turn your old gameboy into a console of now. There is absolutely no need to solder, as mentioned in the video and the whole thing took me about 25 minutes start to finish even though I’ve never modded anything before. This video is the perfect guide.

The fact that you can get all the features with no soldering makes this kit very attractive, especially if your a fledgling modder with no soldering skills

Amazing how far we’ve come in just a few years. Thanks for all the help getting these done Nacho!

That intro sequence with the GBA spinning into frame was so well done. The editing and production quality of your videos is always so well done. As a person that works on videos and editing I just wanted to point out that it is very appreciated on how much work you put into these videos.

Just bought a full kit from FunnyPlaying. That includes their burnmaster, with which I can finally transfer my original Pokémon saves onto my EZ Flash Omega DE. Can't wait to play my GBA games in the dark while I fall asleep like a kid again.

5:13 might be a good idea to pre-solder those wires to the flex cable before you install it, else you are potentially applying a lot of heat to the back of the new screen

After watching dozens of your videos, I've finally pulled the trigger on a kit! So excited for this next little project. This kit has so many cool features.

Appreciate the discount, Tito!

As someone who's just getting into electronics I love that this kit is basically solder free and if you do want to solder it doesn't look that complicated

I've never owned a GBA but man back in the early 2000's seeing those rich kids playing Pokemon on it looked like something from out of this world. Great video, Tito 👍

I installed this mod about 2 months ago and I really like it. As it was my first mod ever, I actually skipped soldering those wires because it was too scary. That's why I was shocked to see you could open the OSD menu without those, because mine can't do that. My touch sensor only controls the brightness. Guess that's a feature exclusive to newer revisions.

As a content creator you have an opportunity to teach people best practices along with your tutorial. In this video you tin and solder the flex cable while it's against the back plate of the LCD. This is an easy way to cause permanent damage to your screen. Depending on the iron temp, you'll see 3 nice little heat spots on the LCD for the rest of its life.

something that im amazed in how subtly but steadily has improved is the look of Scanline filters, which is funny because Portable consoles never had Scanlines due to using LCDs (the one exceptions being Sega's Nomad & Game Gear)

also I'm glad more Retro enthusiasts are realizing is that the true CRT Retro look comes from actually using Anti-aliasing & Frame Blending

I remember putting an AGS-101 screen in mine back in 2017 and it took some work to install as well as significant shell modification. It's amazing how good these new screens are and how simple the installation is particularly with the custom shells.

These are getting better and better and the screen results are amazing. Next “improvement” would be a drop in screen that would allow us to reuse original shell without modding it. I prefer the look and feel of the original shell & keep the GBA original as possible. Just my opinion

I had been on the fence about which way to go in terms of upgrading my GBA, but this convinced me to get this screen and a new shell. Thanks for the great video!

Just modded my own GBA based on this video! Absolutely amazing beginner console modding project. Thanks again for a fantastic video, Tito!

If you want to call the OSD menu without any soldering, you can do it by long pressing the touch sensor, and you can navigate it using long and short pressing.

This was the first mod I've ever tried since it was no soldering, and it came out awesome. Thanks for the video Tito!
