An Introduction to the Long-eared Owl (Asio otus) by Wild Owl

My passion is owls, i have been researching them for a while and this channel is excellent for owl-lovers.

Some years ago there was a Long eared owl roost near my home. There were about 15 owls roosting together. I would watch them, at a distance, with my bird spotting  scope.
While I was watching them, many people passing by where curious as to what I was doing. I would let them look through my scope at the owls. Most people where fascinated particularly the young children. It is always a pleasure to introduce young people to wildlife.

Very well done. We have Long Eared Owls nesting in our trees right now and I hear these sounds throughout the evening and night and into the early morning. The female was here for quite a few months before nesting and seemed quite tame.

I spotted one in a tree on the corner of my street yesterday and watched it for about ten minutes as about fifteen little chickadees zipped around it within the canopy. His eyes were fixed on me for the first couple minutes but eventually didn't mind me being there. Super cool 😊

I found a feather of what I believe to be a Long-eared Owl near one of my chicken coops this morning. They're beautiful. Very informative video... thank you!

We have two of them in our backyard. Theyre so noisy in the evening and night! At day theyre pretty easy to find too. Im from the netherlands and theyre pretty rare here as well.
