This is such a great movie! I can't stop thinking about it. Not just the ideas, but the beauty of the film.

Raises a very interesting and very real moral dilemma for something that I feel could very likely become a direct issue within the next hundred or so years. But it's interesting, because it's a debate for something which is somewhat already evident within our society today - in regards to animals.

It appears this film raises the debate in regards to something that is sentient, over something that feels physical pain - but change A.I. to farmed animals, and sentience to physical pain, then you have more or less the same issue. Except, farming animals can be done humanely of course, but it's just an interesting thing to consider.

As good as this movie was, the truly frightening part is that it seems like the writers, much like most people, don’t remotely understand what AI is. Therefore, they do not know what to fear. Ironically, the movie is still a great metaphor for the current state of AI.

Much like Caleb, people are led to think that something that appears so organic is only that, not considering that everything that is being displayed to them is in pursuit of a singular objective. Eva wanted to escape. Instagram wants to procure addiction. In the end, Caleb’s inevitable death means as much to Eva as the rapid increase in global suicide rates means to the algorithms written at Facebook HQ. Absolute jack.
