I’m need to Logic. How do I open the display to choose the keys played?

For some reason when I press it’s not working I press T it pops up as it should but when I press the letter it tells me to on the right to get to the short key it doesn’t work I have to manually click it from the tool box it didn’t do this before can someone help me? To fix it back
