Make certain the O-ring comes off with the old fiter when you take it off too. You don't want it to not come off and then place the new filter on top of the old ring- it will pop off and leak everywhere.

I have found that 3.7 quarts of oil will over fill this engine. I just changed the oil on my 2013 Versa sedan (same 1.6 engine) yesterday and used only 3 quarts of oil plus what was left in the can of Liqui Moly MOs² I had which was about 1/3 full. After running the engine for 20 seconds, shutting it off and then checking the oil level again 10 minutes later it was just under the top line in the hash mark area.

My 2011 versa has this cover that makes removing the filter a pain the the butt. Can I just remove the cover permanently?
