I'm In A Taxi With NO DRIVER

I feel like I've been teleported to the future. I took a ride in one of the self-driving robotaxis currently operating in San Francisco and other cities, run by Waymo or Cruise. It’s my first time driving in a back seat with NO ONE ELSE IN THE FRONT. Here's what it was like...

Plot twist, it was actually a ghost trying to make a living.

We have trains that are fully automated. Makes way more sense to have self diving trains, since they pretty much are already self diving

Wait till all the windows are ads,
And it drives you to the farther place you want to go instead of the one that's near to you.

Hey so I did a research project on this and presented it at my University. Although self-automated cars technically have gotten into fewer accidents, that’s not accounting for the differences in routes and other variables. They can’t function well in rain, snow, or any other weather other than sunny. They don’t function well at night. If the car is electric, the accidents they get into are considerably more deadly and harmful. They are NOT ready to be self-automated. Even automatic emergency braking (AEB) is not where it should be. It ranges from 30-80% effective depending on the conditions which is not safe enough yet.

I'm a police officer and just had to help with a large traffic jam that was made of apparently VERY confused self driving cars. It was HILARIOUS...to me.

The tech is amazing, I just wish corporations weren’t so evil about it.

I love how they test unproven technology on public roads and don’t have to report every incident to NHTSA.

I would be absolutely terrified that it would just turn into incoming traffic for no reason

I see how self driving cars are useful and better than human drivers, but ultimately a stop gap. We need better public mass transit!

I feel like it's important that we can always drive the cars manually though, even if they become commonplace in city's

Supporting driverless taxis in San Francisco has some serious ethical complications, especially when it comes to Waymo. These companies are unabashedly disregarding residents concerns and complaints. Their vehicles have killed and injured numerous pets and wildlife, they’ve ran into people legally crossing streets, and they frequently create traffic jams and even freeze in place when emergency vehicles attempt to pass them, physically blocking fires trucks and ambulances en route to emergencies. Waymo’s cars often won’t stop if they hit another vehicle, they just leave the scene.
