We’ve had luxury vinyl plank flooring in our kitchen and hallway for a couple of years now. It’s a great durable flooring that is easy to keep in good condition as long as you follow a few simple rules for taking care of it. Here are some tips on how to clean vinyl flooring without damaging it.

I use a drop of dish liquid in warm (not hot) water, and so far, so good. The two of us don’t bring in a lot of dirt or traffic (shoes get removed at the front door), so that helps. I might look into buying the neutral ph floor cleaner from Zep.

I have read that dish soap is not good to use, but i have used a bit in water and mopped mine for years. I do damp mop, but i ring out the excess moisture and put a fan on the floor to dry it quickly. You definitely dont want to apply somthing like Murphys oil soap or conditioners that you would use on natural wood. its vinyl, it just needs to be kept clean without residue.

I have a question! My Duralux floor seems to attain prints of shoes, pet paws, even my bare feet…. I’ve cleaned my floors but if I look at the glare I can see the markings of the prints still…. It’s the weirdest thing, I can’t figure out how to remove them. Which is how I ended up here! Any tips?

Thank you for the info. Do you have any recommendations for deep cleaning? My floors are very light and the vinyl has lots of tiny grooves that don't get clean with regular mopping. I have to get on my hands and knees with a scrub brush to get them clean.

My new house has vinyl plank flooring, and I got a flat mop that can by used dry for sweeping or damp - works great so far. I have a spray bottle with a spoonful of dish soap, for easy cleaning.
The head (microfiber tufts) is fairly flat, swivels, and is easily removed for washing.

My flooring was just installed today. The installer told me to use Murphy's soap. I bought an economical Rejuvenate mop, followed the instructions and the dirt/dust from the installation came up nicely and the kitchen looks and smells nice. I really appreciated your video. I bought furniture caps for the table and stove. I have a new refrigerator coming in and I will also place the covers on the bottom as well. Thank you again for the kind tips.

I use a bissel cross wave and either Zep oh neutral floor cleaner or the Bissel all floor cleaner. Year 5 and they still look new

Hello,
I just installed Luxury vinyl planks throughout the house. I noticed that by the entry from the garage into the house, the flooring is grimy i used the cloth that the installer left behind but I had to wash it and wash it (the rag), can't use a mild soap, vinegar or ammonia, what can I use? 😢.
My husband is Italian, if he spills tomato sauce, or I spill oil, how do I clean it?
If the men used the bathroom and I see some spots on the floor, near the toilet, how do I handle that?😢

Hi When I first moved here I was not familiar with vinyl plank. So I wasn’t sure what to do with it. Well I once put bleach on it, I imagine that’s why it has lost its slight shine. I know you said not to put anything on top of it but it does my head in that it I’d dull & lifeless. So it’s not possible to put a liquid polish on it for it to look a bit better.. It’s only 3 years old. Thank you 😢😢

I’ve been using an o cedar spray mop, and I just seem to be pushing the dirt around. I didn’t know you could use the type mop you are using. So it’s okay to spread a thin layer of water?

Just finished installing my floor, and get an article about the health hazards of PVC. I probably won't be using it again. Try not to scuff it, as this will track micro particles in your house. We usually don't wear shoes in our house. Vacuum often. I might apply a clear coat to my floor. Mine is a marble pattern. This should make it look a little more like a real marble tile, and encapsulate the PVC. Thoughts?

That mop looks good. I am looking for similar for my engineered wooden floor in kitchen, mops get too wet. I currently use one of those that have a small spray at the front . How dry does it wring out and how many passes do you need before it's dry enough to use?
