Any word on the write up? I'm extremely interested in this, as everyone has claimed it couldn't be done. Supposedly the transmission wouldn't talk to the steering wheel paddles due to the resultant 10-6 speed conversion, or something to that effect. I had penciled out some ideas utilizing aftermarket paddles with a rewire/splice of the +/- shifter button, and running them up to the paddles using the wiring for telephone and voice command toggles, as I never use those anyway. Certainly cheaper than buying an OEM Gen 2 wheel, but I kinda like the newer wheel better anyway, and your way looks much easier lol.

Please tell me you can get the heated steering wheel heat element to activate also… even if it’s using a different manual switch somewhere else in the cabin. 😯

Great video and wanting to do this to my Gen1 as well. mtxpert has a few videos and sells a complete factory style harness kit on his website www.ecopowerparts.com, you just have to source your steering wheel, airbag, and clock spring. He also provides a Ford parts web link with all P/N’s needed.
