It’s like a Bigscreen Beyond that you can share with friends without needing them to have the same shape head! And with higher resolution!

Thank you Sebastian for paying the Tokyo trip from your own pocket, just to bring us those great PCVR impressions.

Having a headset that you can flip up has always been something I've wanted in a VR headset design. Mainly because of developing VR games and find it frustrating to have to put the headset on and off when making small changes and re-running. This makes sense in other uses as well, rather than using pass through and not being able to talk to people without it being a bit weird.

Honestly You do really good job for VR community. Kudos Sebastian.

👍Innovation going in the right direction. However, the lack of inside out tracking, audio and perhaps eye tracking (at this price point) is a no go for me. Will wait for crystal super (albeit not my favorite size and form) as my G2 replacement for MSFS/DCS.

This headset looks amazing, Bigscreen Beyond on steroids.

Wow!

I think after years of iterations and false starts, sounds like they finally got it.

And damn I did not expect this.

It sounds like every box on my checklist is ticked. Insane.

Probably need a great graphiccard to support 8k, dynamic foeavated rendering might have helped

THIS^ and the "BigScreen Beyond" are the perfect size VR headset to have as industry standard.

Love everything so far…with exception of need of lighthouse (which I don’t presently own). Recently got PCL and super happy for now. But great to see progress.

Shiftall has a very spotty track record actually releasing any of its products, especially outside Japan, so I'll believe it only when they start shipping. Yes, it's not so much their fault when the supply chain just wasn't working out despite promises, but nonetheless. Otherwise, yeah, perfect little device. If I don't get a Beyond before this ships, I'll consider dropping two grands on it.

Pretty exciting piece of tech. Really well designed with all the features and comfort that VR enthusiasts really appreciate. Too pricey for me but each iteration means the technology will trickle down to other devices. We need competition in this market.

8K you say. That's a lotta pixels to push. This look like a very spicy meatball. I like it.

Looks like those lenses are also coated with grease 1:17 🙃

I've pre ordered a Visor 4k that has these same 4k micro OLEDs, although I don't expect to actually have the product for at least another 6 months, but I'm willing to wait.

Hecking sweet piece of hardware. Lighthouse => less hardware in HMD => lighter. Something for everyone who says Crystal light is too heavy.

Its lack of eye tracking capability is a big concern.
For stereoscopic rendering with *Dual 4K screen*, *forveated rendering* is a *MUST Have*, otherwise this HMD can render even a 4090 down to its knees, barely go past 60FPS (except for very simplistic scenes, you could easily push the pipeline past thousands of FPS with onky a box and a plane 😁). Rendering on Varjo HMD has already proven to be a daunting task for 4090 w/o forveated rendering (2880 x 2720 per Eye). Not to say 3840 x 3840 or 4320 x 4320. Lighthouse tracking is good despite many dislike its one time setup and additional base station costs. It allows *less circuitry & battery on your head*, much less latency, and much less error-prone than the inside-out camera based tracking. Keep HMD lighter and simpler.
Lastly, the price *US$1899 Only for 1 Headset* without controllers, base stations, etc is kinda too luxrious for the majority (>97%) of casual VR gamers. 😅 Can't it be cheaper with lower resolution and higher refresh rate (>90Hz)?
