Snipers are meant to pick infantry off and won't reveal themselves if they are shooting from the enemy's fog of war. So it's really stealth, not straight up anti infantry engagements.

Contrary to popular belief a sniper's purpose isn't to be anti-infantry unit. It strategic and tactical value is the disruption of formations through elimination of HVTs and the enemy's command structure.
