My favorite rendition. The way he plays the accent at 3:57 is unlike anyone else's rendition, but it sounds absolutely right. Here is a pianist playing beautifully and very obviously having a good time. The standing ovation at the end is very, very well deserved

I thought I had heard the stand-out performance of this incredibly difficult piece in Yuja Wang's version. This is is even better. The pianist shows the joy that Mendelsohn's genius created in composing this magnificent Piano Concerto. Bravo maestro!

= I'll second that one- I'd just listened to Yuja Wang's performance of this piece and it was a quick tempo- clicked on this one and it was not just faster- it was perfectly concise all the way through and indeed the expression on the pianist's face added to it! A STANDING OVATION WELL DESERVED INDEED!

Ilya, What a tour-de-force of a performance. The tempo was even all along and the orchestra did a great job in accompanying you. The final movement was played with such vigor at a withering pace. Congratulations!

Its wonderful to see someone with this highest level of pianistic achievement who also presents an amazing image of what else we would like an amazing pianist to be.

This is phenomenal!! I've been looking for authoritative versions of this concerto. I've listened to Yuja Wang, Lang Lang, Serkin and some others. For me, this version is one of the best. The orchestra is great as well (especially with timing, the pianist and the orchestra are locked in pretty tight!).

Great pianist! Truly made me perceive the happy mood through his performance. It could be the antidote for me when I incline toward the depression.

Oh yes! Maestro Yakushev certainly has the right stuff!! I never heard this played so fast - could have easily become a train wreck, but they all succeeded in raising the bar so high, that no one will ever play it faster and do it more justice. Wow - chills ... Bravo!!

How would you expect him to act? That third movement just rings with excitement. One of my favorite piano concertos. I also enjoy the violin and piano concerto as well.
