This week, I selected a few Hawaiian language related questions from the comments on my Instagram and TikTok, and I'm sharing my answers with you! I hope my answers provide some clarity for anyone who's been curious about these topics. Mahalo to everyone for their questions and if you enjoyed this video, comment some questions for future videos!

Traditional native speakers are the most reliable source for authentic pronunciation. These are individuals who acquired Hawaiian as their first language through daily use with their caretakers.

I feel the same about “Hawaiianizing” English words to Hawaiian, it’s not necessary.
Same with “Hawaiianized” names like Kawika, Kamuela and Kaniela (or in other words “Hawaiianized” Biblical names).
How do you feel about words like lolo uila (as opposed to kamepiula)? Or do you just say computer?

Please do a video about pre-colonial Hawaii and "moe aikane". If you are unfamilar with this, bring in a guest who can discuss moe aikane. Do not confuse "moe aikane" with "mahu", totally different. I am not interested in "mahu", as there are several vidoes on this already on YouTube. Time to do a discussion about "moe aikane"-- pre- and post-colonial.
