Health Watch: What is In vitro fertilization (IVF)?

Показать описание
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is one of the more widely known assisted reproductive technologies (ART) to help achieve pregnancy. During the IVF process, an egg is removed from the woman's ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory (“In vitro” means outside the body). The fertilized egg, called an embryo, is then returned to the woman's uterus to grow and develop. In this latest Health Watch video, fertility specialist Armando Arroyo, MD from the UMass Memorial IVF Center, talks about the IVF process and the factors contributing to IVF success rates. He notes that the primary factor is age, where the younger you are, the higher the chance of achieving a successful IVF pregnancy.
