To be fair, I think I understand his initial reaction. He is used to being an only child and for someone of his age, it is a lot to ask him to share his room.

While the message isn't bad, there is another lesson to learn from this.
Patience.
It's understandable for the son to be mad because the parents literally just threw I all in one day. He's used to being an only child, of course his mind is gonna go crazy especially with multiple quick changes.
He needed some time to think, some time to go through his opinions and thoughts.
So, even if the parents are excited about this, they shouldn't assume their son is gonna be immediately overjoyed, at least let him know.
Besides, some kids leave little hints of wanting siblings, that would help your surprise if needed.
However, don't push someone into something so quickly and expect it to be okay. The son is still a kid himself, he needs time and space.

As a kid my parents did this exact thing to me and my brother. We came home one day and they told us they were adopting 2 kids. I 100% agree with the son, parent should have had a long talk with him about this before the decision. I wish my parents did.
