Today (a lot of) Brits go to vote with all kinds of elections happening across the country. Some of the most important elections happening are the local elections in England where new local councillors will be selected. So in this video we discuss what local councillors actually do, why this matter and if the Conservatives are going to win big today.

TLDR is all about getting you up to date with the news of today, without bias and without filter. We want to give you the information you need, so you can make your own decision.

Local elections: if the party does well, they say it's an endorsement of national policies and leadership. If they do badly, they say it's due to local issues.

The problem I have is that after an hour of looking into it I still have no idea what the candidates in my area want to do. We've had 1 leaflet from the labour candidate that was a thinly disguised mudslinging message and nothing from any of the others. The local paper lists who is standing in each ward but nothing about them and I cannot find anything relevant online.

Looks like the Tories are going to do very well. Labour should realise something is very wrong when the working class start to prefer the Tories, and they can’t blame Brexit/Corbyn this time.

Britain is more likely to thrive with a competitive opposition, but Labour are letting the country down badly.

Note that today the local ellections are happening in England, not across the UK, and the two tierd system you described is, again, an Englissh system, not a UK-wide system. In Scotland, for instance, things work a bit differently, as local government is not a reserved matter and sits with Holyrood. So it would have been better to clarify at the start that this information only applies to England, as the script and graphics implied it was UK-wide.
