Convert any USB Printer to a WiFi Printer

Most new printers these days offer a WiFi connection, but what if you have a wired printer without WiFi? You don't have to replace your old wired printer with a new wireless model to enjoy all its benefits.

If you have a Wifi router with print server functionality, you can easily convert your USB printer to a wireless printer, and print from your Android, iOS, laptop, and other wireless devices.

This is a massive IF, it completely depends if the router has USB Printer Server report. You can check with the routers Web interface/ embeded web server. If yiu dont see it, the usb is only for UsB drive functionality

Could you please cover the case where the printer cannot be placed near a modern router?
My set up is
- router not close to printer
- printer hp2600 has parallel and usb ports
- have D-Link DP-G321 wireless print server
- have Win 11 Pro laptop
The utility program from D-Link wants me to point to the hp driver on the laptop's hard drive, but no driver is available as it's all built in to Windows !
Do I really have to switch method and dedicate an old laptop to this good reliable printer..?

You're not converting the printer to WiFi. You're setting it up as a network printer. It's still a wired printer.

The only problem is, you need the printer near the router, to plug it in. That means it is hardwired to the network. Is there no device, that can connect wireless to the router?
A normal wireless printer is vissible, without going over the router, besides print servers are relativly expensive and always demand a network cable. I got this with 240V networkadapters, but it is to my opinion to much fuss in the digital age. You need 2x 240v networkadapters plus a printserver next to your printerserver to create a networkprinter, that is not really wireless.

There is a USB cable to your printer - not very wireless. How about adding a USB dongle to the printer?!
