the ironic part: Tarkin was ultimately responsible for the Empire's destruction. Many weren't traumatized by Alderaan's destruction, but galvanized. It's what turned a series of skirmishes and small conflicts into a full-scale war.

This is fantastic, it portrays an ordinary day on the pastoral planet of Alderaan, then sudden destruction comes.

Very good short film, and love the details. If you look closely, you can see a few stormtroopers and officers who feel remorse or regret what they did and lower their heads down, it only shows that there were also many normal people working in the Empire with feelings, not non-relative murderers as the original saga presented to us. One of the bests short films i ever watched.

Interesting fact: for the destruction of Alderan Tarkin was threatened with execution

Well not all Imperials were thrilled. Those of Alderaaninan descent such as Tycho Celchu would go on to defect to the Rebellion and systems would side with the Rebellion. In face several scholars would later say that the Destruction of Alderaan was the Empire's biggest mistake as they weren't ready for the backlash the galaxy had for Alderaan's destruction. Even Palpatine was shocked by Alderaan's destruction. While it is true Palpatine did give Tarkin permission to blow up a planet, not even he expected Tarkin to blow up Alderaan, which was still respected as one of the founding planets of the Old Republic. As a way to ease tensions Palpatine announced he was saddened over Alderaan's destruction and even offered to relocate the survivors who were off planet to one of his resort planets. Even so he would latter claim Alderaan's destruction was justified as Bail was a leader of the Rebellion and he claimed that Alderaan was making biological weapons. While the part about Bail is true not many people believed it as it was already one of several excuses for why Alderaan was destroyed and since Alderaan was completely blown up the Empire couldn't even present any proof of their claims

I love it. This Video truly shows the might and the terror of the empire. It also shows that not all men of the empire are just heartless killer machines. They have a heart and the think. They can feel oy over the destruction. But they also can feel sorrow, guilt or uncertainity.
In short: this Video things that werde forgotten in the original trilogy.
