Excellent SSL plugin. Probably my favorite at the moment. It makes everything nice and even over the stereo field in my opinion. The high pass feature does save the kick. I can let the kick pump through now while everything gets ironed out. The gain reduction meter may be inaccurate but what I care most about is how good it sounds.

Although I really appreciate what AO is trying to offer for free/patreon, there are some subtleties that the Waves G Comp and other top brands have (hence the price). A real SSL compressor somehow focusses the import parts of the mix, particularly in the mid-range - hence why it's so beloved. As soon as you turn on the Waves version, I can hear so much clarity in the bass chuggs for example, suddenly your mix comes to life. As with all AO plugs, there's a flabby-ness to them. This probably has a lot to do with that he simply copies the schematics digitally whereas Waves will 'model' the characteristics.

Just a heads-up: the gain reduction meter on BUSTERse doesn't show you what is actually happening. For some reason the GR meter tells you that you are doing about twice the amount of gain reduction than what is actually happening. This is a problem in most of AO's compressor plug-ins, although not all of them are as unprecise as BUSTERse. Some even tells you that you are compressing less than what's actually happening (like CHANNEV). There are plenty of dynamics plug-ins from other devs that also have terrible precision, but the precision of AO's GR meters are by far the worst I've seen. AO dBComp (his version of a DBX 160A) is probably the worst of the bunch. When the GR meter says you are compressing -20dB, you are actually closer to -6dB. I really like some of his plug-ins and since they are free/donationware you can't really complain, but you can give constructive criticism - which I think this issue requires. I'm not a Patreon supporter of his though, so someone who actually is would have to bring this to his attention.

waves g comp no have hpf internal sidechain(like 4000e/g mixer) BUT as external sidechain option you can use any stock eq for send hpf sidechain or or use for other things example de eeser

I see you have the Buster 100% wet. Do you normally use parallel bus compression via another track or go with a mix of wet snd dry? Did you only do 100% wet for the comparison to the SSL?

Analog Obsession has some amazing plugins! To me Waves are getting a bit old and there are so many other plugins out there that sound just as good!
