"A person is smart... People are dumb panicky animals." One of my all-time favorite quotes.

I gotta say, the guy who plays Edgar played his role AMAZINGLY well - throughout the whole movie, I 100% believed that he wasn't human and was a giant alien bug shoved in human skin. Most of that was just from good acting and practical effects, with minimal CGI. Bravo!!

The thing with the little girl is, her holding the Quantum Physics books, is ACTUALLY a huge tell that something is wrong. It mirrors how K picked out Mikey in the truck full of Spanish-speaking foreigners. The alien was just mimicking what it thought would hide it without any knowledge or context; similarly, an alien disguising itself as a little girl carrying books that no child would have, in the middle of the night, all by herself in the ghetto is something that it WOULD conceivably do.

Regarding K neuralyzing J after they leave the pawn shop: K has to be sure J can handle the information. He got to do a test run with him in the field, after which J can move on to the next step of the “interview process”. But only once a prospect is going to be offered the job can they retain the knowledge.

i love the little thing everybody misses where J is drinking the awful lemonade, its horrible because the bug took all the sugar, so it was just sour lemonade

10:52 "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it."
I've always loved that line and these past few years, it's never been truer.

Vincent D’Onofrio 1000% deserved an Oscar nomination for his performance in this and he probably should have won.

5:00 - "Edgar" in his skin suit. Vincent D'Onofrio had recently lost quite a bit of weight, so his skin actually was kinda' loose. This allowed makeup artist Rick Baker a lot of freedom to pull and play with Vincent's real skin with glue, tape, latex, other makeup tricks, to make "Edgar" look as weird and creepy as possible. Theoretically, one might have been able to come up with makeup effects on an average actor, but Vincent's situation made him an ideal candidate. Plus, he's always a great actor: he acted the hell out both pre-death rude abusive husband Edgar and post-death bug alien wearing a skin suit "Edgar."

10:02 Actually he's right. He's the only one who didn't just shoot aliens because they were aliens or because they looked like monsters. He applied a lot more analytical thinking than everyone else there. Which I think was the test. His conclusion may or may not have been bs, but the rest of them just shot a bunch of potentially innocent aliens because they looked scary.

I loved the physical acting of Edgar the Bug, especially when he was in the van outside the jewelry store, trying to 'act natural.'

I loved the original when it came out. Super out there concept and super funny at the time, but surprisingly still holds up well after a few decades.

Vincent D’Onofrio is absolutely amazing in this film. I’ve probably seen MIB dozens of times and I’m still always blown away by the physicality in his role of Edgar.

Research shows the known aliens are:
Steven Spielberg, Tony Robbins, Chloe Sonnenfeld (director's daughter)
Newt Gingrich, Sylvester Stallone, Al Roker, George Lucas
Isaac Mizrahi, Danny DeVito, Dionne Warwick

By the way, the dog loved it. Performing dogs are trained not only to obey commands, but also to like certain actions in order to get them to provide material for the editor. (Although it works, it does produce a lot of tail-wagging that then has to be dealt with. Thus all the pre-CGI happiness displayed by "murderous wolves" who were having a really fun time.) The pug in this sequence loves to be grabbed and shaken around, and the shots were intercut with Jones looking very angry, so the shaking could go on for a while without giving away the fact that the dog isn't hurt or upset at all.

What a great, fun movie! This is one I could watch over and over, and Vincent D'Onofrio was, as usual, amazing!

The little "De-Atomizer" handgun that K has in this movie is one of my favorite sci-fi weapons. Because in the behind the scenes for the movie they really did their homework for that weapon.

Its a miniature microwave radiation focuser. If you look whenever its fired, there is no flash or laser because radiation is invisible!

Its also why aliens "pop" when being shot by it, because they are being hit by the equivalent of being trapped in a microwave for too long...I can only imagine what it does to humans 😬

The table scraping across the floor is one of my favourite bits of physical comedy in any movie

The first film is genuinely amazing, second feels like a parody that had a lot more budget but looks incredibly cheap, and the third one was almost as good as the first but by the time it came out nobody cared about the series

Fun little prop fact, when Will was stepping on the roaches he was actually stepping on mustard packets.
