There are FIVE sensors for the SAAB 9.3 convertible.

1. Soft Top raised sensor. Which is a single sensor located on the hydraulic cylinder closest to the front of the car on the right hand side.
2. Soft Top raised and Soft Top lowered sensor. Located on the last rear right hand hydraulic cylinder. This is a pair of sensors (2) on one connector.
3. Lastly are the two sensors that tell the system that the soft top is locked in the up or down position. There are two of these located on the rear mechanism of the soft top on the right and left hand side.

I'm assuming that the sensor you had replaced was on the rear most hydraulic cylinder on the right hand side? Number 2 in my description above?

Here's the link to the SAAB Online WIS showing how to replace this sensor.
Position sensor, soft top raised and soft top lowered (577c/o)

For SAAB Convertibles 2004-2011 this is part number 12833500 which can be purchased at eSaabParts.

It's an easy fix. Just be careful not to lose the retaining clips. Also buy some zip ties to replace those you need to cut off in order to replace the old sensor.

the sensor is in the roof, under the plastic shield. it's black and about 1/2" x 1 with a single screw.

Did you replace the sensor yourself or have it fixed? I'm having the same problem.
If replaced yourself, how did you get to it and was it difficult?
