Heres the thing.
With heros, they would sacrifice you to save the world, showing that indeed they are pure of heart. But the villon would tear the whole world apart if you were hurt. They would make the person that hurts you pay a steep price. That is, if they don't kill the person that hurt you on sight.
You see if your with the hero, yes they would try to find another way, as they always do, but you would end up being sacrificed. Or you would sacrifice yourself for the greater good, because you believe in their cause. But having someone who would literally tear the world apart, watch it burn down in flames while cuddling you as if by a roaring fire, isn't exactly a bad thing. They would always be there for you, no matter what happens. At least, for you its not.
And remember, yes they will have been hurt in their life, they became a villon for a reason after all, but evil isn't born. It's made. And if you know why, mabey the hero doesn't seen so righteous and mabey, you won't want to sacrifice yourself for their cause anymore. At least, that's how I see it.
