DS version on a DSi XL is the ultimate way to play it.

The ranking is SNES > DS > Mobile/Steam PSX. And honestly the only reason I rank the SNES version higher is because the DS version changed a few of the iconic instrument sounds just enough that it just barely doesn't quite sound right.

I wanted to experience Chrono Trigger on my Miyoo A30 for the first time, But I have horrible audio issues on the SNES version which I can't seem to fix.. But I guess I'll just keep trying instead of opting for the PSX-port.

EDIT: got the audio working by using the Snes9x 2005 core instead of ChimeraSNES or Snes9x Current

Somehow Crono/party leader no longer crosses his/her arms during dialogue choices in mobile/steam version.

Why isn't there an MSU1 version of SNES with the PSX cutscenes?

Nah, I'm going to stick with Chrono Trigger on PlayStation. It's part of the Final Fantasy Chronicles disc I got, so why change. Plus I'm spiteful.

Honestly, the loading times really doesn't bother me. PS1 gets my vote.

I honestly just played a modded Steam version, didn't bother me too too much. They did patch out the worst aspects of that port, after all.

So if you have a ps2 you can set the game to “fast disc speed” and the loading times are much MUCH better. Note this does have to be done every time you boot the game.

If someone wants to actually own Chrono trigger I recommend the PS1 as all other versions are so darn expensive. Just don’t play it on a PS1 or PS3

It's always best to play the version that first came out of any game that are cherished. In this case, the SNES version.

Is this a trick question? The answer is obviously balan.

Cool video man, like the short format. Straight to the point, you might be on to something here, try more short stuff (maybe you're even a YouTube shorts kind of guy)

I still have my Chrono Trigger game for the snes my than 20 plus years later ( box and all) and a ps1 copy also a day 1 buy and a few years back got the DS version and put it on my snes-mini. Should Square remake the game then I will buy that too.

I wish you’d follow me around and tell me every time I’m about to make the wrong decision. Thx pal.

Would love to see a FF7 style remake of Chrono Trigger. That said the original SNES version is the current best version across the board still. The animated cutscenes and extra content didn’t improve the game and SNES emulation allows you to upscale the graphics and texture.

Chrono Trigger + for SNES is the best version

You can have MSU-1 with it as well but I still prefer the OG OST

How about it doesn't matter which version you have its Chrono Trigger😊. But yea I bought the cart no too long ago for my SNES collection. So I'm probably just gonna watch the cut scenes on youtube😑

The snes version is the best. The sound has never been properly reproduced. After that the DS version.
