Humax DTR T1000 Repair

Fault
Unit fails to switch on from standby mode via the remote control, hence requiring the power switch at the rear to be turned on and off.

This is a common issue with older DTR T1000s, and is due to capacitors on the main printed circuit board drying out and going high in resistance and low in value.

The user may experience intermittent operation or slow response until complete failure of the unit to switch from standby via the remote.

Picture 1 in the video shows a total of 8 black Electrolytic Capacitors which are the replacements to fix the issue.

All are 220uf 16 V except for the smaller capacitor near to the large white plug with the back(s) Red and yellow wires which is 4.7 uf 50 Volts.

Visual inspection of the capacitors does not show any signs of leakage or bulging.

Only testing with an ESR meter can the defective capacitors be found.

The 220uf Caps were slightly low but the 4.7 uf Cap was open circuit.

Once replaced the unit will work perfectly.

Thanks so much for this thread. My Humax box was behaving exactly as you described but your link to the instructions to reset via Maintenance Mode worked perfectly - and all my recordings saved to boot. Even though BT have ensured we can no longer access internet services with the DTR T1000 model, it's still great for recording etc, and I'm so glad to have it back - thanks again!
