I remember seeing this on MTV. The audience was so confused and on the edge of their seat. This album is pure emotion, which made a beautiful iconic moment in history.

This is better than the miseducation lyrically. The spiritual depth is next level and I bump this to this day!

Dont forget to mention that she also explains that Jesus is very real and we are living in a demonic world.

I love this entire thing, you can clearly see her growing in her relationship with God as she sings about her mistakes & how merciful God has been.

I have this Unplugged on VHS. I’d just moved to NYC when it was coming on and didn’t have a TV so I asked my sister to record it for me. Finally got to watch it around Christmas and I was hooked. Water/Just Like Water is still IT for me, especially lyrically. She performed this at Carnegie Hall on my birthday in 2002 and then slowly started disappearing altogether from the industry. Went to see her a couple of years ago and, not sure why she doesn’t do many of these songs. I guess because they weren’t commercial hits, but the way they hit your soul. Maaaann ❤❤

We ain't a minute?! They said what about who? When Lauryn started singing"I gotta find peace of mind" and then said "Let me find another chord", I was like "Take your time girl. Let me gather myself. Get myself ready"... Guess what?! I still wasn't ready! 😳🫠💯

Truth for them is uncomfortable and raw. People like fantasies and lies.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS POST!!! This album was so revolutionary and iconic that people COULDN’T GET IT when it came out. But if you listen to it now, almost 25 years later, she touches on thing we STILL struggle with today. This is a MASTERPIECE and needs to be reviewed and respected. Check it out or listen again with fresh ears to EVERY WORD she says and every emotion that goes along with it. 🙌🏽🔥✊🏽

This Album #Deadass Got Me Through Some Really Tough Times. In My Humble Opinion This Body Of Work Is Indeed A #Masterpiece

Such a piece of art. I’m 14 so I was never there at the time, but I respect the hell out of Lauryn for giving the middle finger to the industry, even at the high point she was at. She went into uncharted territory with this, depicting things others were too anxious to get into, uncut, unfiltered raw truth, truth of her own and truth about the world; and the music that came as a product was incredible. Pure Art

It’s filled with raw gems that many artistes have been inspired by and some have even built on
